Ferguson Rent-A-Mobs Exposed

My article in today's FrontPage magazine:

Ferguson Rent-A-Mobs Exposed

By Matthew Vadum

ACORN’s successor group in Missouri has been paying protesters $5,000 a month to generate civil unrest in Ferguson, the troubled St. Louis suburb where black youth Michael Brown was killed by a white police officer last August.

We know this because some of the protesters haven’t been paid and, now, they are demanding what they were promised. They held a sit-in at the offices of Missourians Organizing for Reform and Empowerment (MORE) and posted a demand letter online.

MORE is the rebranded Missouri branch of the former Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) which filed for bankruptcy in late 2010. That ACORN state chapter reconstituted itself in December 2009 as MORE under orders from ACORN’s national headquarters. President Obama used to work for ACORN and he represented it in court as a lawyer. (See my previous article on MORE.)

MORE has been active in the Ferguson protests and in efforts to free jailed demonstrators so they can continue vandalizing businesses, intimidating perceived adversaries, setting fires, throwing projectiles and human waste at cops, and engaging in the Left’s usual modes of so-called nonviolent protest. MORE believes that protesters should be given a blank check to inflict whatever harm they wish on the community in pursuit of social justice.

The unpaid rent-a-mob operatives complain that MORE stiffed them the same way ACORN did to hired protesters throughout its 40 years of radical left-wing rabble-rousing. The ACORN network’s leadership was always predominantly white while its foot soldiers were mostly non-white, a fact that caused tension within the criminal community organizing outfit.

Blogger Kristinn Taylor reported at St. Louis-based blogger Jim Hoft’s website, Gateway Pundit, that “[b]lack activists held a sit-in at the office of MORE … on Thursday to press their claim that groups led by whites have collected tens of thousands of dollars in donations off of the Black Lives Matter movement without paying the Black participants their fair share.”

One of the angry protesters can be observed threatening MORE executive director Jeff Ordower, a bald white man, in a video posted to the Twitter account of @search4swag on May 14 with the hashtag #CutTheCheck.

“We gonna just fuck you up,” she said to Ordower from across a boardroom-style table.

Ordower, an outspoken vote fraud apologist, previously ran Missouri ACORN and oversaw ACORN’s Midwest operations. He was also an SEIU organizer in Texas.

In his online biography, Ordower boasts that he was “one of a group of founders of the Chicago based organization Gender Just, which merged queer, class and racial justice.”  The bio states that he “is welcoming co-conspirators in attempts to scale up numbers of radical organizers who can financially support themselves in the work.”

In other words, Ordower admits that paying organizers isn’t exactly a priority for him.

My appearance on Fox News Channel's "Hannity"

I made "Hannity" the TV show -- at least in the form of video footage.

This video shows a clip from Thanksgiving (Nov. 22, 2012) that contains one of my segments from the documentary "District of Corruption." In it I'm talking about ACORN and Saul Alinsky.

ACORN Political Money Laundering in Texas

My Front Page Magazine article from July 26, 2012:

ACORN Political Money Laundering in Texas

By Matthew Vadum

The taxpayer watchdog group Cause of Action is accusing the former Texas branch of ACORN of illegally diverting charitable funds for political activity benefiting Democrats.

ACORN’s Texas chapter may have changed its name but it still appears to be involved in the same kinds of financial shenanigans that made the radical group synonymous with corruption and sleaze. President Obama used to work for ACORN and represented it in court as an attorney.

There are two ACORN spinoff groups allegedly involved in the scheme.

They are the Texas Organizing Project (TOP), classified by the IRS as a 501c4 “social welfare” organization, and its sister group, the Texas Organizing Project Education Fund, a 501c3 charitable organization. The two legally separate nonprofit corporations were both created in December 2009, around the time Congress banned federal taxpayer funding of ACORN. ACORN was infamous for its embrace of the brutal in-your-face political tactics espoused by Rules for Radicals author Saul Alinsky.

Cause of Action says TOP used funds transferred to it by TOP Education Fund for political activity – a huge no-no according to federal tax law. This kind of accounting sleight-of-hand was standard operating procedure for the racketeers who ran the relentlessly corrupt ACORN network.

TOP and TOP Education Fund are engaging “in improper political activities under the radar of the IRS,” said Dan Epstein, executive director of Cause of Action. Epstein’s group is asking the IRS “to investigate these groups for potential abuses of their tax-exempt status, and to hold them accountable for any violations they find.”

ACORN unit Project Vote represents PA ACORN offshoot in lawsuit

Project Vote, the branch of ACORN that President Obama used to work for, filed suit against Pennsylvania claiming the Keystone State isn't doing enough to help welfare recipients vote themselves greater taxpayer-funded benefits.  (View the complaint here.)

Not surprisingly Project Vote is acting for Action United, a rebranded state chapter from the old ACORN network of activist groups.  Action United is a business name for Pennsylvania Communities Organizing for Change Inc. (PCOC).  PCOC is run by the same old Pennsylvania ACORN activists and its headquarters is in the same office as the old Philadelphia branch of ACORN.

I warned in my book Subversion Inc. that ACORN would resurface and I was right.

Paranoia from The Nation magazine

The Left is going all-out to push the tired old meme that asking a voter for photo ID somehow discriminates against minorities, the poor, and other aggrieved groups.

Longtime fellow-traveler and ACORN apologist Katrina vanden Heuvel, editor of the Nation magazine, is trying to raise money by promoting this ridiculous idea.

Not unexpected but still tedious. Make that very tedious.

Here’s a copy of a fundraising letter I received today from her:

Obama Gives $446 Million to ACORN Veteran

My article from today's Front Page Magazine:

Obama Gives $446 Million to ACORN Veteran

By Matthew Vadum

A former senior ACORN official has been put in charge of close to half a billion taxpayer dollars in Illinois, one of the most corrupt states in the Union and the home state of America’s Community Organizer-in-Chief.

What could possibly go wrong?

In 2010 the Obama administration designated $7.6 billion for a foreclosure relief program. Of that total $445.6 million will be administered by ACORN alumnus Joe McGavin, now a director at the Illinois Housing Development Authority. As Judicial Watch discovered, McGavin was “Chicago Operations Manager” at Affordable Housing Centers of America (AHCOA) from November 2008 through January 2011, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Until two years ago AHCOA was called ACORN Housing. The nonprofit corporation renamed itself Affordable Housing Centers for America after undercover activists caught ACORN employees offering helpful advice about starting a brothel for pedophiles and committing other crimes on video in 2009. Soon after, popular revulsion prompted Congress to ban funding of ACORN and groups related to it.

DNC-Sponsored Mob Violence Possible: ACORN, Obama Behind Plan To Dump Garbage On Speaker Boehner’s Home?

(originally posted at NewsReal)

The Democratic Party is officially encouraging supporters to go to Speaker John Boehner’s house and dump garbage on his lawn in order to intimidate him into rubber-stamping President Obama’s destructive spending spree. Such protests can easily turn violent, especially with the tense, hyper-partisan atmosphere on Capitol Hill right now.
Is it a coincidence that not long after longtime ACORN operative Patrick Gaspard took over as executive director of the Democratic National Committee the DNC is planning destructive ACORN-like protests?  Not bloody likely. As chief of the DNC’s day-to-day operations, Gaspard runs Organizing for America, the Saul Alinsky-inspired organization created to wage war on American democracy. Gaspard’s fingerprints are all over this. It’s what the former Obama White House political director does for a living.

But how do we actually know this is a DNC-approved event? Because the event advertised on Facebook is organized by longtime DNC employee Jonah Goodman.

Goodman is listed as a member of the DNC network on his Facebook page. According to Facebook rules (under the heading “How do I join a supported Facebook network?”) this means he is an employee of the DNC. Facebook instructs users as follows: “To join a work network, you need to have a work email address from a supported company. This will put you on a network with your coworkers.” If Goodman ceased to be an employee he was required to leave the Facebook network. The other organizer of the event is Nolan Treadway who is the political and logistics director for the leftist organization Nutroots Netroots Nation. (His Facebook profile is here.)

There is no limit to what these despicable Alinskyites will do. They don’t care how many people get hurt in the process of radically transforming America.

Rush Limbaugh reads Matthew Vadum's work on air

An oldie but a goodie.

On the June 18, 2009 edition of the "Rush Limbaugh Show" host Rush Limbaugh read aloud from my June 19 blog post at the American Spectator blog. And yes, he did pronounce my surname correctly. The point of the blog post was that radical activist group ACORN and AmeriCorps --which at the time was embroiled in scandal after President Obama fired Gerald Walpin, its inspector general-- go way back.

Here's the video clip:
