Voter Fraud: The Left's Tool For Social Justice

My column in today's American Thinker:

Voter Fraud: The Left's Tool For Social Justice

By Matthew Vadum

Why did Democrats applaud the loathsome community organizer Melowese Richardson, a freshly released, unrepentant voter fraud felon, at a recent "voting rights" rally in Ohio?

Because, like Richardson, they believe they are entitled to vote more than once against a system they see as unjust.  Some serial voters do what they do in order to exact revenge against a society they feel did them or their ancestors wrong.  Richardson is far from alone.  Double-voting is distressingly common.

Many leftists have contempt for the electoral process because they don’t believe in the electoral system as it is constituted in capitalist America.  To them, elections are already a fraud – an instrument of the rich, or as Saul Alinsky prefers to call them, the Haves.  If the electoral system doesn’t serve “the people,” but is only an instrument of the Haves, then election fraud is justified as the path to a future that will serve the Have-Nots, as David Horowitz has explained.

This belief helps Democrats and the rest of the left rationalize their habitual efforts to suppress and cancel out lawfully cast votes.  It helps to explain the strenuous efforts of leftists like former Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-Ill.), now federal prisoner number 32451-016, to assure the public that voter registration fraud is no big deal and that fraudulent registrations almost never turn into fraudulent votes.

This is why liberal fascists inside and outside government routinely excuse electoral fraud – in all its manifestations – arguing in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary that such fraud is merely a Republican invention created to keep minorities and the poor down.

This is why these enemies of democracy tried with fanatical zeal to silence the heroic Catherine Engelbrecht and her good government group True the Vote.

This is why grandstanding Congressman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) – as we just learned – apparently conspired with former IRS mandarin Lois Lerner to sabotage Engelbrecht's organization, which is America's leading grassroots electoral integrity group.

This is why the 58-year-old Richardson bragged about voting twice for President Obama in 2012.  The well-spoken, seemingly intelligent poll worker clearly knew what she was doing.  She didn't think it was wrong.

Demonizing SCOTUS

My article in the April 10, 2014 issue of FrontPage magazine:

Demonizing SCOTUS

By Matthew Vadum

Left-wing activists and U.S. senators have launched a pressure campaign targeting the more conservative members of the Supreme Court in hopes of forcing them to abandon First Amendment protections in the Constitution.

In the Left’s view, Americans and the corporations they use to make money can’t be allowed to freely express themselves politically by giving money to candidates for public office because that might halt the country’s ongoing slide into leftist chaos.

American leftists have long believed that if they can’t get what they want through the ballot box, they’ll get it through the judicial system. If they can’t get what they want from the judges, they’ll smear and intimidate those judges, Hugo Chavez-style, until they give in.

Get ready for Justices Antonin Scalia, Samuel Alito, and others to be viciously attacked and demonized by the Left using the techniques of Rules for Radicals author Saul Alinsky.

In the manner of Soviet era propagandists, these neo-Marxist activists are planning to depict the nation’s highest court as a tool of the wealthy powers-that-be that conspire against middle-class families. Senate Majority Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has taken to the floor of the Senate to denounce wealthy libertarian donors Charles and David Koch, who underwrite many right-leaning causes.

North Korea bringing 'Teletubbies,' 'Dr. Who' to airwaves?

Fox News quoted me in this article about North Korea considering licensing three BBC TV programs for its pathetic state run TV system.

North Korea bringing 'Teletubbies,' 'Dr. Who' to airwaves?

By Hollie McKay  Published April 09, 2014  FoxNews.com

It may be the world’s most segregated country, however there’s a chance that North Koreans may soon be legally able to watch a small selection of western-made television.
According to reports, the Kim Jong-un lead dictatorship has been in negotiations for months with the British government about selecting programs to bring to the airwaves there. Now, they are reportedly getting close to allowing “Top Gear,” “Dr. Who” and “Teletubbies” to air in the notoriously closed-off country. The decision is said to follow last year’s foreign office-supported BBC initiative drawn up in an effort to improve understanding about the world within such a closed society.
And media experts in the U.S. are giving the potential proposal the thumbs up.
“I suspect it will have a pleasing subversive effect on the population as extraordinarily sheltered North Koreans learn that everywhere in the world is better than North Korea,” Matthew Vadum, senior editor at the Capital Research Center, told FOX411. “The show ‘Top Gear’ in particular, with its powerful muscle cars, is a wonderful testament to human ingenuity and the colossal things that free people can achieve.”

The Obama EPA’s Heinous Human Experiments

My article in today's FrontPage magazine:

The Obama EPA’s Heinous Human Experiments

By Matthew Vadum

President Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency has been subjecting unknowing human guinea pigs to high levels of carcinogens and potentially lethal pollutants in order to justify tough new air quality standards.

To make matters worse, EPA has been carrying out these egregiously immoral and unethical human experiments in which subjects are made to inhale freshly pumped-in diesel truck exhaust fumes without advising them of the risk to their health.

Such EPA-funded studies have reportedly been carried out at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, University of Rochester (N.Y.), University of Southern California, University of Michigan, and elsewhere.

It is social engineering of the worst sort carried out by left-wing bureaucrats who view people as objects or playthings, not as individuals. It is also consistent with the profoundly misanthropic ethos of environmentalism, a movement that was already radical 25 years ago but has become outright totalitarian in its goals since it was taken over by neo-Marxists around the world following the collapse of their ideal state, the Soviet Union.

The news, which has largely been ignored by the mainstream media, comes amidst the EPA’s draconian crackdown on wood-burning stoves (that will probably lead to a crackdown on fireplaces too eventually).

The disturbing finding that Americans have been subjected to dangerous toxins for political gain is contained in a new investigative report by The Daily Caller’s Michael Bastasch.

States With Healthy Budgets Cut Taxes to Boost Economy, Growth

My new Newsmax article is below. It was published last night.

States With Healthy Budgets Cut Taxes to Boost Economy, Growth

By Matthew Vadum

With a surprising number of states finding themselves with budget surpluses even in a weak economy, lawmakers across the nation are cutting taxes in an effort to kick-start economic growth.

Republican governors including Scott Walker of Wisconsin, John Kasich of Ohio, and Mike Pence of Indiana have led the charge for tax cuts in their states. But Democratic governors in Minnesota and New York have also pushed for measures to reduce their states' tax burdens.

In 2013, 17 states cut taxes, according to the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a pro-limited government, nonprofit organization with more than 2,000 Republican and Democratic state lawmakers as members.

The momentum has carried over to 2014, as a number of state-level tax cuts have already been enacted this year in legislative sessions across the country.

At the urging of Walker, the Wisconsin State Assembly in March approved more than $500 million in property and income tax cuts.

By Walker's tally, taxes have been reduced by $2 billion since he took office in January 2011. Property taxes will fall $100 this year for the average homeowner, and the typical working family in Wisconsin will see an extra $522 in paychecks, he said.

In late March, Pence signed into law business tax cuts that will reduce Indiana's corporate income tax rate from the current 6.5 percent to 4.9 percent, making it the second-lowest in the nation.

The War on Poverty — $21 Trillion Later

My article in today's FrontPage magazine:

The War on Poverty — $21 Trillion Later

By Matthew Vadum

Fifty years and trillions of dollars after the “War on Poverty” was launched, Americans aren’t much better off, according to a study published by Republican reformers in Congress.

The War on Poverty has barely made a dent in poverty, said the 205-page report unveiled by the House Budget Committee, which is chaired by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.). The report was created in the hope of starting a discussion in Congress about reforming poor-relief programs.

In 1965, the poverty rate was 17.3 percent. In 2012, it was 15 percent. This means taxpayers blew a staggering $20.7 trillion over the last half century in order to achieve a paltry 2.3 percentage point decrease in poverty.

Those on the Left consider this to be social progress by way of coercive redistribution. Mere results have always been less important to the Left than intentions.

Although a sane person would consider the minuscule reduction in poverty a humiliating defeat, left-wingers have successfully been changing the subject, moving the discussion away from their policy failures for 50 years now.

It began back in the Sixties, when instead of being satisfied with New Deal-era programs like Social Security, left-wingers resolved to move America even farther away from its founding ideals, fundamentally changing the country by erecting a supremely sclerotic behemoth welfare state answerable to no one.

The War on Poverty itself was a part of the massive left-wing social engineering and vote-buying scheme known as the Great Society. This war really should have been called the war on American values. As a result of misguided government policies that grew out of the War on Poverty, out-of-wedlock birthrates have mushroomed, David Horowitz and John Perazzo reported in “Government vs. the People.”

Despite an orgy of federal spending, blacks and other minorities have suffered the most from big government poverty alleviation efforts. The anti-marriage, anti-family tilt of welfare policies has devastated black communities.

In his first State of the Union address on Jan. 8, 1964, President Lyndon Johnson ushered in a half-century of government-incentivized sloth, indolence, dependency, and social decay. He exhorted Congress to launch a new belligerency against a perpetually ineradicable foe.
