I enjoyed listening to the Sept. 6 edition of Jamie Kilstein and Allison Kilkenny's podcast "Citizen Radio."

These two liberals didn't seem to understand the argument I made in my American Thinker op-ed and it sounds like they relied on somebody's goofy interpretation of my article instead of actually reading it.

But at times they're kinda funny even though they ramble endlessly and can't stop their knees from jerking - and they're a helluva lot more pleasant to listen to than serious-as-a-heart-attack Thom Hartmann.

Obama’s Defilement of 9/11

As the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks approaches, President Obama is again pushing his “National Day of Service” in an effort to pervert the meaning of that terrible day for partisan political purposes.
In his weekly address on Aug. 27, Obama urged Americans to do volunteer work this Sept. 11, a day that the administration ought to officially call the “National Day of Ignoring Islamofascism.” The president said Americans should do something to serve their communities on that day “to honor the victims of 9/11 and to reaffirm the strength of our nation with acts of service and charity.”

In Minneapolis, volunteers will help restore a community center. In Winston-Salem, North Carolina, they’ll hammer shingles and lay floors to give families a new home. In Tallahassee, Florida, they’ll assemble care packages for our troops overseas and their families here at home. In Orange County, California, they’ll renovate homes for our veterans.

All this charitable behavior may be fine and good but at no time has anyone really explained why this National Day of Service has to be held – of all the 365 days in a year – on Sept. 11. There is already a Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service every year run by the Corporation for National & Community Service, the same government agency responsible for coordinating the Sept. 11 day of service.
The way the new “National Day of Service and Remembrance” envisioned in the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act that the president signed into law on April 21, 2009 is being administered is all service and virtually no remembrance. This is deliberate.
At the signing ceremony, President Obama said nothing about 9/11, except in passing. He expressed hope that the generation of young people “that came of age amidst the horrors of 9/11 and [Hurricane] Katrina, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, an economic crisis without precedent,” would come forward and volunteer to work for “change.”
Obama urged volunteers to participate “in the work of remaking this nation.” He conflated his Saul Alinsky-inspired neo-communist agitation as a community organizer in Chicago more than 20 years earlier with actual community service that helps people.

All that’s required on your part is a willingness to make a difference. And that is, after all, the beauty of service. Anybody can do it. You don’t need to be a community organizer, or a senator, or a Kennedy or even a president to bring change to people’s lives.

So it’s official: 9/11 isn’t about the murder of 3,000 innocent Americans by Islamic fanatics. It’s about, in Obama’s words, “solving today’s most pressing challenges: clean energy, energy efficiency, health care, education, economic opportunity, veterans and military families.”
Obama’s desecration of 9/11 is part of an effort to dumb down the nation and turn the solemn annual commemoration of the Sept. 11, 2001 atrocities into a meaningless feel-good event that glosses over both the horrors of that day and the evil intentions of the Islamofascist barbarians who made them happen.
At the behest of his radical constituencies, the administration’s plans were outlined in an Aug. 11, 2009 White House-sponsored teleconference call run by Obama ally Rev. Lennox Yearwood, president of the Hip Hop Caucus.
As I reported two years ago in a three-part series at American Spectator, on the call Yearwood and others said they wanted 9/11 to be used for something “positive,” “forward-leaning,” and “productive.” Their plan was to turn what they called a “day of fear” that they say helps Republicans into a day of activism that would help the Left.

Shrieking on the Left

"Every election is a sort of advance auction sale of stolen goods," the great libertarian muckraker H.L. Mencken once opined. Of course he was right.

Leftists double down on this idea when they support turning welfare offices into voter registration centers. It is a subversive, antisocial act, as I argued in my recent American Thinker op-ed, "Registering the Poor to Vote is Un-American."

That's why Richard Cloward, Frances Fox Piven, ACORN, and a host of other left-wing, Saul Alinsky-inspired community organizing outfits were so delighted with the Motor-Voter law signed into law in 1993 by President Bill Clinton. These activists wanted to encourage welfare dependency and grow government. Even worse, they wished to foment revolution, or more precisely, counter-revolution. They knew that getting welfare recipients to vote in great numbers was one way to stoke the flames.

In my op-ed I argued that it is destructive to register welfare recipients to vote so that they can vote themselves more government benefits. It is even worse that our tax dollars are used to register welfare recipients to vote while at welfare offices. It is a policy that would cause the Founding Fathers to roll over in their graves.

As I report in my book, Subversion Inc., Cloward and Piven, who were small-c communists (not "liberals" as many in the media would have you believe), said so fairly explicitly, or at least as clearly as verbose academics could. They said "massive numbers of new voters" had to be registered.

[E]nlisting millions of new and politicized voters is the way to create an electoral environment hospitable to fundamental change in American society.  An enlarged and politicized electorate will sustain and encourage the movements in American society that are already working for the rights of women and minorities, for the protection of the social programs, and for transformation of foreign policy.  Equally important, an enlarged and politicized electorate will foster and protect future mass movements from the bottom that the ongoing economic crisis is likely to generate, thus opening American politics to solutions to the economic crisis that express the interests of the lower strata of the population ... The objective is to accelerate the dealigning forces already at work in American politics, and to promote party realignment along class lines.

In other words, Cloward and Piven wanted to promote class warfare in order to tear asunder America as we know it. They wanted to use the "weight" of the poor to destroy the American constitutional republic. Encouraging those who live at the expense of others to vote for politicians who want to give them more unearned benefits is an excellent way to bring down the existing order.  

Surely I cannot have been the first to point this out.

This is not a call to extinguish the voting rights of anybody, as Rick Hasen of Election Law Blog, and a chorus of shrieking leftists contend. This is a call for Americans to reconsider the wisdom of voter registration drives and registering welfare recipients to vote at welfare offices.

But leftists will continue to shriek. That's what they do best.

Rick Hasen isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer

Left-wingers often have problems with reading comprehension.

A case in point is Rick Hasen of Election Law Blog.

In my recent American Thinker op-ed, "Registering the Poor to Vote is Un-American," I argued that it is destructive to register welfare recipients to vote so that they can vote themselves more government benefits. It is even worse that our tax dollars are used to register welfare recipients at welfare offices. It is a policy that would cause the Founding Fathers to roll over in their graves.

Yet Hasen misrepresents my views. He writes

Wow.  Deny the right to vote the poor because they might vote in their self-interest.  I don’t know something more “un-American” these days than claiming that wealth should be a valid criterion for deciding who should get the right to vote.

I never made that argument but Hasen is either too stupid to understand this or he is deliberately sliming me. Of course those who are legally qualified to vote should be allowed to vote but our tax dollars shouldn't be used to underwrite the destruction of the republic.

Registering the Poor to Vote is Un-American

Why are left-wing activist groups so keen on registering the poor to vote?
Because they know the poor can be counted on to vote themselves more benefits by electing redistributionist politicians.  Welfare recipients are particularly open to demagoguery and bribery. 
Registering them to vote is like handing out burglary tools to criminals.  It is profoundly antisocial and un-American to empower the nonproductive segments of the population to destroy the country -- which is precisely why Barack Obama zealously supports registering welfare recipients to vote. 
A decade before the Motor-Voter law that required states to register voters at welfare offices was enacted, NAACP official Joe Madison explained the political economy of voter registration drives.
"When people are standing in line to get cheese and butter or unemployment compensation, you don't have to tell them how to vote," said Madison, now a radio talk show host in Washington, D.C.  "They know how to vote."
Like Madison, Barack Obama grasped this basic truth when he worked for ACORN's Project Vote affiliate in 1992.
"All our people must know that politics and voting affects their lives directly," the future president said.  "If we're registering people in public housing, for an example, we talk about aid cuts and who's responsible."
Encouraging those who burden society to participate in elections isn't about helping the poor.  It's about helping the poor to help themselves to others' money.  It's about raw so-called social justice.  It's about moving America ever farther away from the small-government ideals of the Founding Fathers.
Registering the unproductive to vote is an idea that was heavily promoted by the small-c communists Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, as I write in my new book, Subversion Inc.: How Obama's ACORN Red Shirts are Still Terrorizing and Ripping Off American Taxpayers.
In an infamous 1966 Nation magazine article, the radical university professors urged that the welfare apparatus be used to destroy the American system.  Borrowing a phrase the ultra-leftist Leon Trotsky used in one of his many anti-Stalin tracts, The Platform of the Joint Opposition (1927), they titled their blueprint for radical change "The Weight of the Poor."

No, Your Majesty, Congress Will Not Be Available Wednesday

Will Sergeant at Arms Wilson Livingood slam the doors of the House of Representatives shut in President Obama's face if he shows up uninvited Wednesday?

The president has asked to address a joint session of Congress that day in order to deliver for the umpteenth time another dreary, excuse-filled teleprompted oration on how he's going to magically create new jobs for Americans.

The Obama White House doesn't give a farthing's cuss that a high-stakes Republican presidential candidates' debate has been scheduled for the same evening at the Reagan Library.

Obama flak Jay Carney says the timing is a fluke. As the Washington Examiner reports

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney says the timing of the speech is not aimed at overshadowing the next Republican debate, which is cosponsored by NBC News and Politico, and is scheduled to air at the same time as the planned presidential address. 

"It is coincidental," Carney said. "It is one debate of many [that will air] on one channel of many... [and] there are many other factors here" to consider when scheduling a major address from the president, he added.

Of course, anyone who believes the timing is coincidental hasn't been paying attention to our president for the last few years.

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) is having none of it. He sent a letter to the White House recommending another day for the speech. Good for him.

It is clear that President Obama may not dictate to Congress when he shall address it.

The tradition that the head of state must at least implicitly seek the permission of the legislature in order to appear in person and address it has a long and storied history in Anglo-American governance.

In England the House of Commons goes so far as to ceremonially slam the doors of the chamber in the face of the Queen's representative, the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, to remind all in that green and pleasant land that the Commons is independent of the monarch.

Perhaps it's time some doors get slammed in the face of America's would-be monarch.

Volunteers for Prosperity, a branch of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), can't even spell the name of the president of the United States correctly.

Yet President Obama wants bureaucrats just like these people, who can't even spell his name right, to run the nation's healthcare system.

Bringing Jihad TV to America

Leftists are pushing to make Al Jazeera’s English language channel widely available on college campuses and cable TV networks throughout America in order to undermine public support for Israel.

Radical activist Phyllis Bennis explained the importance of the TV channel at a recent “Campaign for Al Jazeera English” event in Washington, D.C., hosted by a group called Rethink Press.

“If there were Al Jazeera access in every city in this country, building a movement to challenge U.S. foreign policy, to make it something different than what it is, would be a whole hell of a lot easier than it is now,” according to Bennis.

And what aspect of U.S. foreign policy is Bennis most interested in? Israel.

She demands that U.S. aid to Israel be eliminated and accuses Israel of “crimes” and “apartheid.” Bennis condemned the Israeli navy’s interception of the pro-Palestinian flotilla last year that aimed to break Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip as a “pirate-style assault” and a “massacre at sea.”

This Noam Chomsky wannabe is also co-founder of the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation and works closely with the Communist-dominated anti-war coalition known as United for Peace and Justice. She is a fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies, probably the most virulently anti-American think tank of note in the nation.

And why is Bennis so enthused about Al Jazeera English in particular? Because its coverage is relentlessly critical of Israel.
